QuanTech is conducting a Creel Angler Survey (CAS) in New Jersey under contract with AECOM. The survey will be conducted from September 2011 through August 2012 with the exception of December 2011, January 2012, and February 2012.  The CAS will provide site-specific information on angling in an urban river in the Newark, New Jersey area. The specific study area is the lower 17.4 miles of the tidal Lower Passaic River from its confluence with Newark Bay up to Dundee Dam. The study area covers a broad mix of urban land uses ranging from marine, industrial, and commercial to recreational and residential. The CAS will collect data on a variety of angler characteristics, including trip frequency, years of fishing in the study area, species and size of kept catch, preparation and cooking methods, and sharing of catch. The CAS will also collect data needed to characterize the angling population, including size, demographics, and advisory awareness.
