Entry Level SAS Programmer

QuanTech is a statistical analysis and a survey research firm headquartered in Arlington, VA. The company provides a complete range of survey research, data collection and statistical analysis capabilities through our professional staff, in-house Survey Research Center, and extensive field interviewing network.

QuanTech is seeking a talented entry-level SAS programmer to assist on surveys sponsored by the Department of Commerce (NOAA Fisheries), the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide data management support;
• Writing and updating SAS error-checking, data editing, outlier analysis, and data analysis programs;
• Conducting ad hoc data requests;
• Communicating with QuanTech telephone interviewers and field interviewers; and
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science & Policy, Survey Methodology, Computer Science, Mathematical Statistics, Biological Sciences, Marine Biology, or Marine -Estuarine-Environmental Science;
• 1-3 years experience with SAS data step programming and SAS Macro programming;
• 1-3 years data management experience;
• Must have experience working with large complex data files;

• Knowledge of relational databases;

• Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word;
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks;
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively; and
• Excellent verbal, written, & math skills required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency with MS Access and Visual Basic;
• Knowledge of marine fisheries;
• Experience with natural resources data collection, telephone surveys, and field surveys;
• Experience with programming CATI systems; and
• Web programming skills.
